Fort Wayne's League for the Blind and Disabled is launching a local cooking competition and they want you to sign up!! The competition will even feature a reality star chef from FOX's hit show Masterchef. Christine Ha, the winner of Season 3 will be a guest judge in the competition taking place at Ivy Tech.

She captured millions of fans.  Winner of Season 3's Masterchef, Christine Ha is making her way to Fort Wayne for a local cooking competition.  The competition is a charity event organized by the League for the Blind and Disabled.

David Nelson, CEO of the league is looking forward to her visit.

"She has found a way to shine by doing things differently and most people with disabilities, they can still do most things that everybody else can.  They might do it differently.  Christine is a perfect example of that."

The preliminary cook-off is being held at Ivy Tech Community College.  Jeff Bunting, Program Chair of Hospitality Administration at Ivy Tech tells us what they will be looking for in the winner.

"We have two different ways to judge competitors.  One is gonna be in the kitchen.  We'll be looking at their sanitation, we'll be looking at their organization, their cooking techniques, their knife skills, things like that.  When we taste, we're looking for creativity, we're looking for something unique, we're looking for something with the right texture, something that tastes delicious."

Contestants can cook whatever they'd like but everyone has to use an apple and incorporate it into their dish somehow.

"I would definitely try to feature the apple so the apple is the most important part of the dish.  I wouldn't want it to be the secondary part of the dish."

Friday's event will decide the four finalists who will be in a competition on September 7th.  Natalie Eggeman, Secretary of the Board of Directors at the League says the grand prize of the competition is $1,000 dollars.

"You don't have to be a professional chef to enter this competition.  We want home cooks just like on Masterchef so give it a try.  It'll be really fun!"

You can still join as there are a few spots left.  Click here for more information.
