A judge in Marion ran the Boston Marathon 1 year ago and he finished the race 50 minutes ahead of the explosions.

WFFT's Audra Streetman sat down with him to learn more about the impact of the bombings one year later.

Mark Spitzer is a Grant County Circuit Court Judge who lives in Marion.  He trained for years before qualifying for the 2013 Boston Marathon.  He shares his experience crossing the finish line and later witnessing panic after the attack.

Spitzer was in the second wave of runners to cross the finish line at the Boston Marathon.  He was in his hotel lobby 4 blocks away when the bombs went off.

Mark ran in the race with 2 friends from Marion.  Luckily, none of them were injured in the explosions.

Spitzer is an avid runner who has participated in 10 marathons.  2013 was his first year qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

After a foot surgery, Marks says he is not returning to Boston this year but plans to keep running and participating in local races.
