A group of Fort Wayne City Utilities employees were recognized by the Indiana Legislature this week for their efforts to bring water to people in need around the world.

The Indiana General Assembly passed a resolution honoring 6 City Utilities engineers and construction workers.

The workers went to La Vega, Guatemala and dug a new clean well for a community that lacked access to fresh water in November of 2013.

Ben Grenoweg, Mike Keester, Mark Genzick, Jim Hyde, and Todd Webster teamed up with Living Water International and they say they're just glad to help people.

"Seeing the people in the village the first time they see the clean water and those kinds of things was a big reward but this is pretty special.  It's pretty neat to be recognized by the State Assembly."

They're not done yet.  The group is leaving this upcoming Saturday to dig a new well in El Salvador.
