An update on the Glenbrook Mall roof collapse that happened last week on Tuesday.

WFFT's Tara Petitt spoke to the owner of Ehlerding's Harley Davidson, which is one of the four businesses affected by the roof damage.

"My first thought was 'oh my, what kind of damage do we have here, what are we faced with, what kind of catastrophe are we faced with'?"

Last Tuesday, business was put on hold for multiple stores in Glenbrook Mall, after the roof collapsed above the hallways outside of TGIFridays and Sears.

The collapse, according to officials, was caused by high winds and heavy snow.

Store Owners, like Don Ehlerding of Harley Davidson, had to think fast in order to keep business alive.

"It was more of an issue of having to live through all of the noise, the construction noise and the dust, and the dirt that would be generated, or relocating and doing business the way we like to do business, and so relocation was really the only alternative."

Ehlderding's Harley Davidson was closed for 8 days before they were able to reopen in their temporary new location.  With the help of Glenbrook staff, friends, and volunteers, the Harley Store was back open for business a week later.

"This was about 4 or 5 back-breaking days of getting this store put back together."

Ehlerding is thankful for all of the help he's received to keep him in business, and says the 8 days they were closed shouldn't effect their bottom line.

"I don't think it will be that big of an impact.  It's been a trying time.  I'm tired, my staff is tired, but we're open, the public is coming, and we certainly welcome them to come see us in our new, safe, clean, and we think gorgeous environment."

Other stores that were affected by the roof collapse include Sears, TGIFridays, and Auntie Anne's Pretzel Shop, with TGIFridays sustaining the most damage.

Although Ehlerding's Harley Davidson only received minor damage, they won't be able to return to their permanent location for quite some time, in order to provide the mall access to make repairs.
