The weather is finally starting to warm up -- that means more Hoosiers outside on their motorcycles. One local mom is speaking out after her daughter was killed in a crash.

In March 2012, Breanna Walker was killed while riding on the backseat of a motorcycle down Illinois Road. A car pulled out in front of her bike and the driver of the motorcycle couldn't stop in time.

"Everyone needs to look out for the motorcycles, they're out and about already with the nice weather," says Lynne Walker, Breanna's mother.

In 2009, there were more than 3200 motorcycle crashes in the state of Indiana -- 113 of them were fatal.

Experts say the best defense for riders is thick clothing, helmets, and the right know-how. The Indiana BMV offers motorcycle driving courses for beginners and experts.
