"We arrived on scene to find the fire fully involved. From there, we started adding additional resources."
St. Joseph Township Fire Chief David Ringer says besides the fire, they were also fighting the weather.
"This cold weather has been fighting us since the onset. We've been dealing with frozen trucks, frozen pipes, personal. It's just the weather conditions, the wind, the temps, working against us."
With the first too large, the fire departments had to go on the defensive but were able to save the owner's home.
"Give my thanks out to all the departments that helped save the house, and the other two buildings that surrounded this building. All the crews did an excellent job saving these structures. Somebody still has a house and the other two buildings are fully standing."
WFFT talked with the owner and while he didn't want to be on camera, he said the most important thing was that no lives were lost in the blaze.
