A Fort Wayne business has given itself a 'green' make-over-
Making it the first of its kind in the region.

It's this week's Locally Made Monday.

This week, we're at Ever Green Dry Cleaners on Georgetown North Boulevard in Fort Wayne.

The shop has gone completely environmentally-friendly-
With new equipment, and a new outlook at a long-standing industry.

"I was a silent partner in the dry cleansers in this building... I sort of inherited the dry cleaning business," says owner Duane Bruick.

Bruick reopened his shop right off the top of the year- with a big change.

"Once I became the sole owner, I checked into the equipment side, and found out our equipment was very old- sort of outdated," Bruick says.

Bruick says since new equipment was too expensive, it made sense to start fresh- and green- becoming the region's first environmentally friendly dry cleaners.

"The equipment is a lot easier to use than the older-style equipment that we were using- it's more efficient- and not toxic," says employee Laura Prucell.

Bruick says going chemical-free is a smart move.

"Not only is it not around the employees anymore, it's not on your body anymore, it doesn't go with you, so that is a big thing," Bruick says.

In fact, he says environmentally-friendly dry cleaning is the next big thing, and attracts customers from hours away.

"We like it. It's good for the environment; it's good for the employees. It's the right thing to do- it's the way that things are going to go," Bruick says.
