During the attack, someone pulled the school's fire alarm, which officials say helped evacuate the building. The suspect, a 16 year-old, was handcuffed by a resource officer and later taken into police custody.
The stabbing attack comes just one day after officials with the East Allen County School District wrapped up a safety training course. The training is provided by a company called the Alice Training Institute. The name stands for alert, lockdown, inform, counter and evaluate.
Abourt 30 school officials and 20 local firefighters and police officers attended the EACS safety class. From there, staff members will return to their schools to train even more teachers and administrators.
