A domestic dispute turned into a standoff with a local man and the Fort Wayne SWAT Team then following his arrest, the man escaped from a local hospital and then jumped into the St. Mary's River where authorities had to rescue him from the flowing water and finally took him into custody.

Tracey Salter the 2nd was arrested at this home in South Bridge Apartments after a call was made to police on a reported domestic battery case.

Salter would not cooperate with police and the emergency services team had to use an explosive device to open the apartment door where he lives.

He was then arrested on an active warrant for attempted robbery.

Salter asked to be taken to a hospital to be checked out and it was there at Saint Joe Hospital where he escaped from custody.

Police say he ran north towards the intersection of Superior and Van Buren, made his way to the Saint Mary's River and jumped.

After a struggle, the local Water Rescue Team was able to apprehend Salter and he was arrested and taken away by ambulance.

Charges are pending on this case and we'll bring you an update as soon as we learn more.
