The Department of Defense Fiscal Year 2015 Budget is expected to be finalized next week.

If approved as it currently stands, the Army will be reduced to it's smallest size since 1940 at 450,000.  The cuts would also eliminate the A-10 Aircraft and reduce military benefits.

Locally, the A-10 Fighter Jets are flown at the 122nd Fighter Wing Air National Guard Base in Fort Wayne.  The Base released this statement from Col. David Augustine.

"The Secdef's guidance on the A-10 is consistent with what the Air Force has made public over the past few months.  The 122nd Fighter Wing will continue to fly the A-10 and be combat ready in this mission until the Air Force converts the 122nd Fighter Wing into a new mission.  We are committed to remain one of the country's most capable fighter wings and in the future, bring the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter to the base."
