If you've traveled that route lately, you know traffic is a nightmare with several lane closed in both directions and lowered speed limits.
WFFT's Tara Petitt spoke with Parkview Health as well as the Indiana Department of Transportation and Indiana State Police and has more on what you can expect over the next few months.
Construction has already begun in Fort Wayne on the diverging diamond interchange modification project on Dupont Road by Parkview Hospital. There will be a traffic switch Friday, June 13th with lane restrictions on the eastbound lanes.
The speed limit in that area will be reduced to 35 miles per hour on Dupont Road and also reduced to 55 miles per hour on I-69 below the construction.
"We are gonna have ISP, the Indiana State Police stepping up enforcement because we need people to slow down."
Toni Mayo with the Indiana Department of Transportation says if you are caught speeding in a construction zone, fines can be doubled or even tripled.
"Anything can happen in a work zone. So slow down."
"There's approximately 4,000 or more cars that enter the Parkview Regional Medical Center campus every day and so keeping that in mind as you navigate this construction area is very important."
Eric Clabauch, Public Information Manager with Parkview Health, says it's important for everyone to be aware of the limitations and lane restrictions in place.
"Allow some extra drive time if you are heading to the campus. Be safe as your are navigating this construction area. There are crews working so we wanna make sure that they're safe while they're working. We want motorists to be safe and so just having some patience, taking time, and allowing that extra drive time can really make it better for everyone."
The Indiana Department of Transportation suggests using the Union Chapel interchange in order to avoid traffic. The lane restrictions are expected to last for at least the next 90 days and the construction should be completed by October of this year.
