Colts owner Jim Irsay was arrested early this morning for suspicion of driving under the influence and now faces four additional charges of felony possession of a controlled substance.
The 54-year-old was pulled over by Carmel police late last night after his car was reportedly driving extremely slow, Irsay then went on to fail several sobriety tests. Police then reportedly searched Irsay’s car and found several prescription drug bottles.
Irsay’s bond was reportedly set at $22,500 dollars.
Earlier today the Colts released the following statement regarding Irsay’s arrest, “We are gathering information at this time regarding last night’s incident involving Jim Irsay. The team will issue additional statements when the facts are sorted and we are aware of the next steps to this process. Many fans have reached out to express their concern and we appreciate their support.”
Irsay has owned the Colts since the death of his father ,Robert, in 1997, and has admitted to alcohol and drug abuse problems in the past. But on his verified twitter account in October of 2013 Irsay wrote,” I don't drink...haven't in over 15 years."
