Charges have been dropped in the first homicide of 2014 in Fort Wayne.

The Allen County prosecutor announced that the January 19th shooting of Damian Miller II was the result of self defense. Investigators say that Miller attacked a security guard at the Dupont Bar and Grill on Clinton Street by striking him in the head with a glass beer bottle.

Under Indiana law - a person is justified in using deadly force when they believe that the force is necessary to prevent serious bodily injury.
