A cat that has been missing for 5 years has been reunited with his owner.

Virginia Fryback of Fort Wayne got a pleasant surprise when she got a call from Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control.

Her cat Charlie had been missing for 5 years and has now been found.

All because Charlie had been microchipped so they were able to reunite pet and owner.

Fryback said that she is extremely grateful that her veterinarian convinced her to get a microchip for Charlie when he was a kitten.

The chips can be implanted by a vet or an animal shelter and they last for about 25 years.
