Pizza deliveries have been called in to the Southeast neighborhood near Barr Street and Wildwood Avenue, both of which have ended with an armed robbery.

A delivery driver with Pizza by Vitos was approached by two suspects demanding money.  The driver was punched in the face and shot at.  The suspects got away with $4.00, some wings, and a pizza.

A similar situation happened but with a Pizza Hut driver.

"It would be reasonable for us to think that quite possibly these are the individuals responsible for at least these 2 incidents. I know the physical characteristics described by the victims are closely matching the individuals involved in others." - Michael Joyner, FWPD

This is also the second time within a week that a delivery driver from Pizza by Vitos has been targeted.  The question now is, how safe is this line of work?

Tasty Pizza Owner B.A. Scholleart admits the job is risky, but there are some simple rules drivers can follow to reduce that risk.

"I make my drivers call and have them turn the light on, or come out of the house if it looks sketchy in any sense with new people but if they're a regular, then we know them in the computer."

Tasty Pizza drivers are also required to stop at the store between each delivery and drop off their cash.  That way, they aren't carrying more than $20.00 at a time.

Another precaution is unmarked vehicles.

"Most of our drivers don't have signs on their cars because they don't want to be targets for stuff like that."

The good news is that one of the suspects believed to be involved in the robberies, has been arrested.  The suspects in the most recent deliveries have been black males, possibly late teens early 20's, nearly 6 feet tall and at least one of the suspects has dreadlocks.

If you have any information about either of these robberies you are advised to call Crime Stoppers at 436-STOP.
