Officers arrived to the scene responding to a call that a shooting had taken place around 12:30 Monday afternoon. Upon arriving they found 1 male with a gun shot wound.
Police cars and K9's lined the street of Colerick when police responded.
"I heard loud noises this morning that woke us up, when I looked out the window I just saw EMS carrying a young man away. He was conscious and everything thank God, didn't look like he was dead just awake."
Not wanting to be identified, this neighbor said the young man that was shot was awake and was being carried away.
Police say they are unsure of how many men were involved but 3 men were sent to the hospital in stable condition. The shooting took place in the 800 and 900 blocks of Colerick.
"Neighbors say the park behind me was taped off for part of the day for police to investigate."
Neighbors and police confirmed that the suspect was found South of the Youth Center in Weisser Park.
So far no weapons have been recovered and there is no motive. Later, police were searching a house on the 800 block of Drexel for evidence relating to this shooting.
Neighbors WFFT spoke with are concerned, "oh yeah, it makes me nervous. I worry about my mother, worry about the neighbors, the kids around the neighborhood."
Pam Lattimore, a resident of the neighborhood says, "you used to be safe here, but not anymore."
Lattimore says this block is known for violence and crime especially with the park close by.
"Bullets don't have eyes."
WFFT spoke with a child that heard the gun shots and said it sounded like fireworks, a little later he saw a man come out with a bullet wound on his lower body.
While WFFT was there, the police were leaving but a few undercover cars were driving by. Neighbors WFFT spoke with said they ride more and more around the neighborhood now which makes them feel a little safer.
