Monday a crash resulted in a motorcyclist in critical condition and Tuesday another crash leaves a biker dead in the street. Monday’s crash was not the biker’s fault whereas Tuesday’s the motorcyclist was the cause of the accident. This brings up the issue of motorcycle safety. Gary Beverforden was the victim of an accident said there should be more fines for people that hit motorcyclists.
"Nobody's giving the bikers the respect they deserve. You know its not that they don’t see us, people just don’t care. They see us coming. A lot of us have 3 to 4 lights on the front so you can see the bikes next to us,” said Beverforden.
Cody Osborn at Osborn
"Usually when someone buys a bike from us we'll make sure they have been through the abate course. That’s a good safety thing that everybody should go through before they get their license. If someone hasn’t been through it when they buy a bike from us we'll pay for them to go through that course and class,” said Osborn.
The Fort Wayne Police Department is investigating both crashes and Osborn said that since motorists don’t always see motorcyclists because they don’t have as many lights, be sure you look closer before taking off.
