Living the "green" lifestyle and trying to be healthy and help the environment is not that difficult.  Here are some tips in 60 seconds to get your started.

It is very important to stay warm, but keep in mind, every degree that you raise your thermostat is a 10% increase on your energy bill. 72 degrees is a good average temperature for your home.

Don't preheat your oven.   This is an old myth.  Your food will cook just as properly and thoroughly without preheating the oven.  .Look through the glass instead of opening the oven to check on your food.

Don't rinse dishes before putting them into the dishwasher.  This is also an unnecessary myth.  Dishwashers today are capable of getting rid of the grime without you wasting your time.

Don't take baths, take showers.  You use twice as much water to take a bath than when showering.  Shorten your showers.  Every minute in the shower is roughly 5 gallons of water.

Don't get bottled water, get a reusable container to carry water or purchase a water filter for at home.  Turn the water off when you brush your teeth.  You waste 4 gallons of water when you let the water run while brushing.

If you recycle one material, recycle glass.  It takes glass a million years to decompose.
