  • When Will FOX Fort Wayne Broadcast In Full Digital Power?

Thank you for your interest in WFFT FOX FORT WAYNE’s upgrade to a full power digital signal.  As you can imagine, we receive quite a number of inquiries about it.

Right now, it’s hard to give an exact “live” date for when our new digital transmitter will be turned on, but we are getting closer with each passing day.  As with any large construction project, delays are bound to happen, but we’re working to keep those to a minimum.  We understand this is a much-anticipated endeavor for our viewers, but we also want to make sure the job is done right so that there are no problems after the new digital transmitter is turned on and our viewers can receive the best digital signal possible.

One of the things that had to be done in preparation was a new building had to be constructed to house our new Thomson HD Millennium Transmitter.  In addition, an electrical upgrade, and a new air-conditioning system to keep the new digital transmitter at a good operating level was added.

The next big step is that a tower crew will be installing a new digital antenna approximately 750’ up on our tower.  They will also run transmission lines from the antenna to our new digital transmitter, as well as build an “ice bridge” to protect the lines between the tower and our building from falling ice during the winter.  The tower crew will also have to fortify the tower due to the added weight.

Once we get closer to knowing for sure when the “live” date will happen for us to turn on our new digital transmitter, we will have announcements running on our TV station, as well as on our website.

We know this has been a long time coming, but give us just a little more patience, and we’ll have a full power digital signal available for you in the not too distant future.
