We salute Captain Alicia Herman, a Fort Wayne native who served 9 years in the US Army.

Arlene O'Keefe nominated her niece Alicia Herman to be the Hometown Hero.

Back in July, Alicia received her honorable discharge after serving 9 years in the US Army.  She rose through the ranks starting as Second Lieutenant and retiring as a Captain.

After graduating from Concordia Lutheran High School, Alicia received a ROTC Scholarship at Indiana University in Bloomington.

During her 9 years in the Army, Alicia served tours in Italy and South Korea.  She was also deployed to Iraq and Qatar.

Alicia is now studying to obtain a masters degree in social work and counseling in hopes to help her fellow soldiers when they return home.
